Individual Shiatsu Therapy Sessions

Shiatsu

During a shiatsu session, you will be asked to wear loose comfortable clothing and not to eat a big meal for at least 90 minutes before treatment. You will normally lie on a futon on the floor or on a body cushion, or to sit on a massage chair, depending on what requires treatment and your own physical health.

The first session will begin with some detailed history taking which lasts about 20 minutes. Subsequent sessions do not include such detailed history-taking but you will be asked some follow-up questions on your health and well-being.

Shiatsu

Typically, people will come for several treatments on a regular basis and may be given some exercises to do in between sessions. The aim of treatment is to enable your body and mind to rebalance and restore health and well-being. Often, an individual will come for a couple or more treatments and then return for a "top up" on an as-needed basis. Sometimes, through talking and working with you, the therapist will suggest a different treatment with another kind of therapy, if Shiatsu is not the most suitable for you.
